Mercedes at the US Open

I'm standing here next to the Mercedes Sport featured in September at the 2011 US Open faux showroom. They also featured a hybrid SUV. During one of the times I had gotten my Mercedes E 350 (260,00 + miles, great car, probably reconditioned now after I sold it) serviced, they gave me an SUV loaner. It couldn't fit into my garage...too high to get through the doorway. But this would fit nicely. My insurance in NYC would probably be around $12,000 a year. Fugettabowdit.

The car is lovely, though I would be hysterical while driving it. I don't like small cars. I had the opportunity to buy a friend's Mercedes for a good price. It was a sport, not dissimilar to this, not top of the line (which this is). I drove it and felt I would kill myself in it. Not enough cushion of steel to separate me from a devastating blow from another vehicle. Too small to keep me alive if, while driving on the LIE, some yahoo 14 wheeler transporting chickens didn't see the ant in front of him and monster trucked me into infinity. NOT.

So for now, this picture will have to do for all time, especially since the price tag exceeds the price tag of another friend's huge three bedroom house in North Carolina. We're talking six figures here in base 10. To my friends out there, if you ever see me in a car like this, you know the result is this either - or. One: I've been diagnosed with a fatal illness that has no known cure. Two:  I'm celebrating my 100th birthday and don't mind checking out after having lived a good life. RIP.
